নেত্রকোণা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় বাংলাদেশের একটি অন্যতম প্রতিশ্রুতিশীল বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়। এই বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের জ্ঞানচর্চার প্রধানতম উদ্দেশ্য হচ্ছে মানবসমাজকে তার সমগ্রতায় পাঠ করা। ফলে, বিশেষায়িত জ্ঞানের পাশাপাশি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়টি আন্তঃশৃঙ্খলা ও বহুশৃঙ্খলাধর্মী জ্ঞান উৎপাদনে আগ্রহী। প্রতিষ্ঠানটির লক্ষ্য হচ্ছে এমন ধরনের গ্র্যাজুয়েট প্রস্তুত করা যারা দ্রুত পরিবর্তনশীল বিশ্বের সাথে তাল মেলাতে ও নেতৃত্বদানে সক্ষম হবে৷ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়টির গবেষণাকর্ম কোনও সীমানা দ্বারা আবদ্ধ না হলেও তার মূল লক্ষ্য হলো বাংলাদেশের আর্থ-সামাজিক ও জাতীয় প্রয়োজনকে প্রাধান্য দেয়া।
২০১৮ সালে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়টি যাত্রা শুরু করে চারটি বিভাগ নিয়ে। প্রতিষ্ঠানটি প্রতিনিয়ত প্রতিশ্রুতিকে কর্মে অনুবাদের প্রচেষ্টারত৷ ২০২৪ সালে দায়িত্বগ্রহণের পর বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের বর্তমান উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক ড. খন্দকার আশরাফুল মুনিম এবং কোষাধ্যক্ষ অধ্যাপক ড. আনিছা পারভীন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের বিদ্যায়তনিক উন্নতির মানচিত্র প্রণয়নের পাশাপাশি প্রয়োজনীয় অবকাঠামো নির্মাণেও বিশেষ জোরারোপ করেছেন। বিশ্বমানের জ্ঞান উৎপাদনের পাশাপাশি প্রতিষ্ঠানটি হাওড় অঞ্চলের ঐতিহ্য ও প্রাণ-প্রকৃতি রক্ষার প্রতি বিশেষভাবে দায়বদ্ধ। এরই অংশ হিসেবে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ক্যাম্পাসে দেশীয় বৃক্ষের সমন্বয়ে পরিকল্পিত বনায়ন এবং মানুষ ও পরিবেশের সহাবস্থান নিশ্চিত করে অবকাঠামো নির্মাণের পরিকল্পনা করা হয়েছে৷ এই পরিকল্পনাসমূহ এরই মধ্যে আলোর মুখ দেখতে শুরু করেছে৷ আঞ্চলিকতা ও বৈশ্বিকতার যুগপৎ সমন্বয়ই বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়টির স্বতন্ত্র পরিচয় প্রতিনিয়ত নির্মাণ করে চলেছে।
